Our mission

Broad View EAAT's mission is to provide participants the opportunity to learn a variety of important life lessons that are acquired through caring for and working with horses.  Our program is specifically geared toward participants who may struggle behaviorally or academically, who have endured trauma, and/or may need a safe and positive space to find their inner strength.  Broad View aims to guide participants to find hope in their future through the love of horses, and discover a positive new path equipped with life skills, enabling them to lead a successful life.

Broad View is a place of hope, transformation, acceptance, and community for all people.

Katie is a lifelong horsewoman, a Nationally Certified School Psychologist, and a PATH International Certified Equine Specialist in Mental Health and Learning (ESMHL).  After graduation from Loyola University in Maryland (B.A. in Psychology) and Towson University (M.A. & CAS in School Psychology), she returned to her roots in Sussex County.  She has worked with children ages 4 to 21 as a school psychologist, both in the public school setting and alternative settings for youth with more significant challenges.  Katie was instrumental in creating the curriculum and coordinating programming with Broad View's work with her students at Stevenson House Detention Center.

"I couldn't thank the Broad View program and instructors enough for what they have done for Kaleb.

He has gone from having melt downs in school to being able to calm himself down before he gets to that point. He has really connected with the horses and instructors in a way I don't believe he would have gotten anywhere else!

I highly recommend to everyone that needs that extra help with their emotions. I am forever indebted to Broad View!”

Vision & Goals

Picture

Acceptance

Many of our partipants come to us after having been unsuccessful in other therapies and intervention techniques, but the non-judgemental, welcoming environment provided in our program is often just what they need to meet with success.
Picture

Hope

Our methods focus on our participants' strengths and meeting them where they are in order to improve their self-confidence, empathy, and sense of agency.  We often hear that our participants begin to demonstrate hope for their future for the first time.
Picture

Transformation

Our programming is focused on building resilience and optimism so that our participants can see beyond barriers and build a positive mindset for their future.  They get exposure to opportunities they never knew existed.
Picture

Community

 Our goal is to
provide a safe haven for participants where they can have a sense of belonging and acceptance .  The program provides a supportive community for participants to rely on as they experience the challenges and rewards of building a bond with horses.
